David Kamulindwa was in fine form at the Entebbe Open as he obliterated the par-71 course to claim the tournament by 6 strokes.
Kamulindwa played a 7-under-227 over the four rounds to top the professional cluster that had 35 pros, including a couple of ladies, Irene Nakalembe and Eva Mahgala.
Bred from Tooro Golf Club but now a member of Entebbe Club, Kamulindwa led the open from the opening round when he returned a 5-under-66 and opened a 3-stroke lead over Vincent Byamukama.
On Day 2, he lowered his score to 65 and then had a relatively rough third round, which he played 6-0ove0-77 but was back to his fine form during the final round with a 2-under-69 to complete the open with 19 birdies, 10 bogeys and a single double bogey.
The victory earned Kamulindwa 6.7 of the 45 million shillings kitty for the professionals.
In second place was Palm Valley Golf and Country Club’s Abraham Ainamani, with 1-under-283, who climbed from 11th place after the opening round.
Home boy Herman Mutebi, Grace Kasango and last year’s winner Rodel Gaita were. tied for third place with a gross 1-over-285.
Meanwhile, in the elite amateurs, in-form national team player and Uganda Open winner Joseph Cwinyaai topped the gross category with a 3-under-210. Cwinyaai sank an eagle, 13 birdies, 8 bogeys and a couple of double bogeys over 54 holes.
A total of 59 elite amateurs competed at the open.
