JKL Lady Dolphins take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing 2025 National Basketball League playoffs semifinals.
JKL Lady Dolphins secured a hard-fought 65-61 victory against UCU Canons in the NBL Playoffs semifinals at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday.
The Lady Canons came out of their blocks early with Sylvia Nantongo’s layup, but they trailed by two points (14-12) at the end of the opening period.
Ritah Imanishimwe’s jumpshot tied the game 25-25 with 01:25 minutes to play. However, the Lady Canons went on to take the second quarter with a nine-point (34-25) lead.
Coming from the locker rooms, Lady Canons kept the foot on the gas pedal opening a 14-point (44-30) lead after Shillah Lamunu’s eurostep with five minutes to play.
Sylvia Nantongo’s layup concluded the highly paced third quarter as the Canons held onto a four-point (49-45) lead.
Canons’ breaks fell off, and they lost control in the final quarter. Ekone came off the bench to replace Imanishimwe with seven minutes left on the clock.
Ekone managed to collect ten personal points in the final minutes of the game as the Dolphins secured a four-point victory.
Hope Akello (20 points and 13 rebounds), Ekone Brenda (17 points) and Evelyn Nakiyingi (10 points) led the Dolphins’ chart in double digits.
On the other hand, Matrina Anyango (15 points), Shillah Lamunu (11 points and 14 rebounds) and Sylvia Nantongo (11 points) scored in double digits for the Lady Canons.
