Ronald Sebuguzi has moved his odds higher on winning the 2025 National Rally Championship title after securing a second position in the just-concluded Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally in Gulu.
Sebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa in the Ford Proto clearly exhibited their need for the fourth title when they swept the first stage on Friday morning.
Sebuguzi’s chances became even more vivid after his title rival, Ponsiano Lwakataka, suffered an early retirement from the stage on Friday. Even a restart on Saturday did not help Lwakataka.
The Shell-sponsored crew maintained a top position, securing a second position, and with it, valuable points for the title.
Sebuguzi is now 52.5 points ahead of second-placed Musa Ssegaabwe.
Sebuguzi only needs to secure eight points from the season finale to be confirmed as this year’s NRC champion.

Duncan Mubiru in a Ford Proto buried his Rally Fort Portal woes, cruising to his second victory of the season, finishing one minute and 33 seconds ahead of Sebuguzi.
Aine Sodo Kaguta completed the podium in third position overall.
In the two-wheel drive category, Mansur Lubega secured the victory, followed by Hajj Kavuma with Julius Semambo in third to complete the podium.
Walter Kibande continued to dominate the clubman rally championship category with another victory. His rival, Ahmed Kateete, finished in second, followed by Dennis Bahizi.
The next round of the NRC, which is the final round of the year, will be in Hoima from 20th to 23rd November.
