Namuwongo Blazers, a National Basketball League side, have confirmed their roster ahead of the Road to BAL tournament.

The Blazers have strengthened their squad with three key additions for their maiden regional championship: John Murry, Joseph Obasa, and Bereal Jaycson Ray.

Obasa and Murry bring valuable experience, as they have both previously competed at this stage with the Kadji Sports Academy and are expected to be influential in the Blazers’ campaign.

The team will also rely on the experience of Tonny Drileba, Jimmy Enabu, Ivan Muhwezi, and James Okello, all of whom have played in the main Basketball Africa League (BAL) tournament.

Tournament opponents and format

The tournament lineup has changed, with Comoros’ Djabal Club replacing Burundi’s Dynamo due to a ban on the Burundi Basketball Federation.

This change results in a three-team tournament where the Blazers will compete against Djabal Club and Tanzania’s Dar City.

Dat City is expected to be a force to reckon with, having added big names such as Solo Diabate, Nisre Zouzoua, and Raphiael Putney, along with experienced coach Maradona Gueye.

The three teams will compete against each other in a round-robin format, and the top two sides will advance to the subsequent Elite 16 tournament.
