Uganda is among the 57 countries competing at the forthcoming Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) is preparing a team of different sports disciplines for these games that will run from 7th to 21st November 2025.
According to the Chef-De-Mission of team Uganda Hajji Sadick Nasiwu, the Ugandan team will have Aquatics, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, Boxing, Athletics, Para-Powerlifting, Basketball (3X3) and Wrestling.
“Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has assembled a competitive team of athletes for the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games set for Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
“These are coming from seven sports disciplines of Aquatics, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, Boxing, Athletics, Basketball (3X3), Para-Powerlifting and Wrestling.
These have been prepared well and are ready to carry aloft the national flag,” Nasiwu, also the Treasurer of UOC and president of Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF), remarked.
Some of the big names on team Uganda include Denis Mbaziira (Para-powerlifting), Halima Nakaayi, Tom Dradiga and Josephine Joyce Lalam (athletics), Joseph Ssebatindira, Parvin Nangonzi and Jemimah Nakawala (Table Tennis), Jimmy Adriko and Fatuma Nabikolo (Boxing), Davis Niyoyita and Aisha Namataka (weightlifting), Ann Gloria Muzito and Tendo Mukalazi (Aquatics), among others.






Athletes aside, Uganda will also be represented by International officiating officials as Salim Ssenkungu Musoke and Janet Namwanga Musoke (weightlifting), Monicca Nassuuna (Basketball 3X3) and Fula Aciga (Boxing).
These games are played every four years and have existed for the last 20 years.
So far, 18,969 athletes have taken part in the games with 52 countries competing in 35 sports disciplines.

Turkey leads the overall medal count with 239 Gold, 206 silver and 200 bronze for a total haul of 645 medals. Uganda is 27th overall with two gold medals, six silver and three bronze for 11.
The Islamic Solidarity Games were established to strengthen Islamic Camaraderie and reinforce the values of Islam, primarily to the youth.
