The death of young Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Touré in Ghana has sent shockwaves through the football fraternity across the continent.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper was found dead in Kumasi, Ghana, as confirmed in a statement released by Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs.
Reports indicate that the footballer was tragically deceived by fraudsters posing as football scouts.
These criminals lured Touré to Ghana under the false pretense of inviting him for trials.
Upon his arrival, the scammers kidnapped him and demanded a ransom from his family in Senegal. Despite the family’s desperate attempts, they were unable to meet the kidnappers’ financial demands.
Following the failure to secure the ransom, the kidnappers mercilessly took the young athlete’s life.
