Muhangi is expected to battle seasoned politicians as Hajjati Minsa Kabanda (Minister of Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs) and David Lewis Rubongonya (Secretary General of National Unity Platform).
The president of Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) Moses Muhangi was duly nominated to stand for the seat as Member of Parliament for Kampala Central in the 2026-2031 epoch.
Muhangi is expected to battle seasoned politicians as Hajjati Minsa Kabanda (Minister of Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs) and David Lewis Rubongonya (Secretary General of National Unity Platform).
His manifesto highlights 12 different aspects ranging from increase of sports funding, modern sports infrastructure, quality education, improved healthcare, internet accessibility, good roads, jobs creating programs, better working environment, bringing power back to the people, women and youth inclusion, expanding the tax base to boosting the budget for a better city.
Hailing from a sports background, Muhangi yearns to handsomely pay back to the family.
‘I want to advocate for more funding and better sports infrastructure which will empower talent and unite communities through sport. I also want to push for bigger national budget for all sports disciplines” the trained lawyer highlights his bold dream for the sports sub-sector.
Muhangi returns to mainstream elective politics having successfully served as a councilor in Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
During his tenure as president of Uganda Boxing Federation, Muhangi has completed turned around the image of the sport previously associated for the Ghetto people only to the corporate world with different companies now willing to sponsor the sport.
His leadership skills have also built strong pillars for the Uganda Boxing Champions League, a regular competition that has sprouted raw skilled boxers, a feeder for the national team.
Muhangi aspires to join several other sports-related leaders who hold parliamentary seats as Hon Jimmy Akena (Motorsport), Hon. Mpindi Bumali (Para-Sports), Hon. Moses Hashim Magogo (Football), Hon. Julius Achon (Athletes), Hon. Peter Ogwang (State minister of sports), Hon. Allan Ssewanyana (Football), Hon. Ssolo Kayemba (Football), Hon. Asuman Basalirwa (Football), Hon. Michael Kakembo (Boxing) and many others.
