The South Sudan team also edged Zimbabwe 2-0 in the second game.

South Sudan thus attained qualification to the Africa Division 1 and for the 2028 championships in Las Vegas.

Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO, hailed the achievement as “a great story and a surprise to the global African community, especially in a time often dominated by negative headlines of conflict and crisis. South Sudan’s Men’s Blind Football Team is showing the world a positive and inspiring story of resilience and success.”

He extended heartfelt congratulations to the national team for their outstanding performance, adding; “This is a moment of pride for South Sudan. The government should step in to provide full support to these exceptional athletes. It is not right for such a remarkable team to achieve this without meaningful government backing.”

The South Sudan Men’s Blind Football Team has been supported by CEPO, Light for the World, and the Adadis Foundation.
