Uganda Cubs' forward James Bogere celebrates

International friendly match (U-17):

  • Tuesday, 28th October 2025
  • Uganda Vs Paraguay – Al Hamriya Cultural and Sports Club, Dubai | 8:00 p.m.

The Dubai Youth Challenge Cup continues with yet another contest on Tuesday evening when Uganda U-17, hitherto tagged as the Cubs, tussle against South African opposition Paraguay at the Al Hamriya Cultural and Sports Club in Dubai.

This will be Uganda’s other test against an opponent from South America, following the game against Venezuela, which ended 1-all last week with lethal forward James Bogere scoring for the Cubs.

On Sunday, Uganda Cubs squandered a slim 1-0 lead before falling to Panama 2-1.

Simon Wanyama gave Uganda Cubs the lead in the 13th minute but Panama gallantly rallied to equalize through Gordon Gerson via a penalty in the 20th minute and got their winner through Richards Moises two minutes to the hour mark.

Brian Ssenyondo cited key pick-ups from the matches against Venezuela and Panama heading to the Paraguay duel.

“The boys (players) have really shown the urge and willingness to play. These build-ups have been very crucial to us because they have painted a clear picture of what we should expect in the main tournament (FIFA U-17 World Cup),” Ssenyondo, also a co-coach at KCCA Football Club, noted.

For starters, the FIFA U-17 championship will take place between 3rd to 27th November 2025 in Qatar, where Uganda is in Group K alongside Canada, Chile and France.

With Chile and Canada in the same group as Uganda Cubs, the Africans have already had a test of the South African technical prowess and the physical component expected when they battle France.

This will be the first time that Uganda plays at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, a key marketing gimmick for the players and coaches on the show.

  1. Edit to south America, instead of south Africa and repost. Good luck Uganda U17 .

  2. If no match fixing and poor officiating Uganda u17, should stop wasting chances, believe in themselves. They are on a world class standard.
