Namuwongo Blazers have turned around the best-of-seven series, taking a 3-2 lead in the National Basketball League Playoff Finals.
Nam Blazers registered a 71-68 victory over City Oilers on Sunday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The game started on a high note as both sides came out of their blocks early, but Anthony Chukwubuka Chukwurah’s successful trip to the line gave the Blazers a two-point lead (25-23) at the end of the period.
The game got physical as each play was contested but at halftime, the highly attended game was tied 41-41, setting up an anticipated second half.
Coming from the locker rooms, both sides went nearly five minutes without converting until Kurt Curry’s jumpshot but Joel Lukoji responded with a 3-point shot.
The Nam Blazers concluded the third quarter with James Okello’s jumpshot beating the buzzer as they created a four-point (58-54) lead.
Despite the City Oilers’ strong fight in the fourth quarter, the Nam Blazers held and fought on to clinch a three-point victory on the day.
James Okello (17 points), Joel Lukoji (10 points) and Anthony Chukwubuka Chukwurah (10 points) led the Blazers, scoring in double digits.
On the other hand, only Kurt Curry (15 points) and Chad Bowie (14 points) scored double digits for the City Oilers.
