Overview:
Overall, Uganda has a total of 39 athletes from the disciplines of Boxing, Aquatics, Athletics, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Para-Powerlifting and Table Tennis.
It was excitement for team Uganda in the Saudi Arabian city of Riyadh, where the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games are due to take centre stage.
Uganda’s Chef De Mission Hajji Sadik Zaid Nasiwu safely arrived in the Games Village on Tuesday.
Moments after arrival in Riyadh, Hajji Nasiwu attended the Chef De Mission’s general meeting at the Sports Information Centre in Riyadh.

He also gave a key update about the status of the team in Saudi Arabia, boldly outlining their readiness as the games near kick-off, starting with the boxing competition.
“I travelled very well from Entebbe International to Riyadh. It is so far so good. The weather is not that bad, slightly hotter than in Uganda. The boxers reached well and we expect many other teams in the coming days,” Hajji Nasiwu remarked.
Hajji Nasiwu also hinted about the preparations for a tranquil opening ceremony on the 7th November 2025, the travel of the other teams to Saudi Arabia and the status quo of the Bombers.
“We are gearing up for the official opening ceremony on the 7th November 2025. The Swimmers and Table Tennis players are also joining. Everything is good apart from the boxing side, where a gender certification for the ladies is needed but we shall sort that,” he added.

The boxing technical meeting was pushed ahead to Wednesday, alongside the draws prior to the first day of the competition on Thursday.
Meanwhile, US-based swimmer Jesse Ssengonzi and Hungary-based Gloria Muzito arrived in the Games Village.
The other two swimmers from Kampala, Tendo Mukalazi and Tara Kisawuzi, traveled with the Table Tennis team.

Athletes aside, Uganda also has International Technical Officials (ITOs) in Salim Musoke Ssenkungu, Janet Musoke Namwanga (Weightlifting), Monicca Nassuuna (Basketball) and Fula Aciga (Boxing).
