Quarter-finals (Men)
Saturday, 8th November 2025:
Men’s 80 Kg:
- Alfred Ojok (Uganda) Vs Mohammad Nourani (Iran) – 1:30 PM
Men’s 60 Kg:
- Jimmy Adriko (Uganda) Vs Mahammadali Gasimzada (Azebezian) – 5:00 pm
Venue: The Promenade Art Tower

The two Ugandan male boxers will enter the ring on the afternoon of Saturday, 8th November 2025 during the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games at The Promenade Art Tower facility in Riyadh city, Saudi Arabia.
The first player in action will be Alfred Ojok in the men’s 80 kg weight category against Iranian Mohammad Nourani at 1:30 pm.
“I am set for action. I have had five days of training in Riyadh since we came here. I am mentally and physically ready” Ojok revealed.

The second bout for Uganda will be at 5:00 PM in the men’s 60 Kg when Jimmy Adriko will take on Mahammadali Gasimzada from Azebezian.
“I have maintained my weight and ready for action. We have done workouts with the coach (Samuel Kabugo) and all is well” Adriko commented after the last training drills on Friday morning at the Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University Students’ Recreation and Sports Arena.

Ojok got a bye at the first round and commences his journey at the quarter final stage.
The winner between Ojok and Nourani will face the victor between Osmanli (Turkey) and Afghanistan’s Gulzad or Egyptian Elsharkawi F.
The Uganda boxing team in Riyadh is being handled by head coach Samuel Kabugo who is positive about a great performance.
“We have really done everything possible for the best preparations. The boxers are now in shape and ready for competition. The weights are right and nothing will halt them to seek glory” Kabugo, a star two coach revealed.

Meanwhile, the female boxers on the team Fatuma Nabikolo and Angel Katushabe will not compete since they had not conducted the mandatory Gender Eligibility Tests.
Such tests are now a prerequisite by World Boxing, the global body in charge of these games before the competition kicks off.
Boxing aside, Uganda has representation in Wrestling, Aquatics, Table Tennis, Athletics, Weightlifting and Para-Powerlifting.
A total of 57 countries are competing in 23 sports disciplines where Uganda has fielded 7.
The official opening ceremony for the games is on Friday, 7th November 2025.
