Nkumba University put up a statement victory against newbies Soroti University infront of a big and loud home crowd.

Nkumba University secured a well deserved 6-0 victory against Soroti University in the University Football League (UFL) encounter in Entebbe on Thursday.

The hosts came out of the blocks early knocking on the door and searching for that early goal and perfect start.

Abbey Kavuma broke the deadlock in the 15 minutes with a quick tap in as Soroti University’s backline failed to clear Ismail Lubega’s delivery.

Nkumba University came close to doubling their lead through Saad Mukiibi who blast his effort over the bar in the 21st minute.

Bwiruka finally doubled Nkumba’s lead after swiftly rebounding off a loose ball in Soroti University’s box area in the 31st minute.

Four minutes later, Ismail Lubega made it three with a stunning free kick sending the fans in crazy mood to celebrate the beautiful finish.

In the 37th minute, Kavuma completed a brace after smartly taking away Buruhan Tasumba’s cut back in a crowded area.

Two minutes into the second half, Nkumba were awarded a penalty after Joel Opiro was tripped in the area but Kavuma’s effort was saved.

Marvin Kagimu and Nasser Mwere put the icing on the cake to seal off Soroti’s humiliation in a 6-0 thumping infront of the home crowd.

The victory takes Nkumba to second place in Group C with six points, one less of the table leaders Kyambogo University.
