The StarTimes Uganda Premier League is now on hiatus for the November international break but there was another week of action before focus now turns to international football.

From BUL extending their unbeaten streak to KCCA losing their first game of the season and Villa steady rise, here are the talking points from match week 6.

BUL extend unbeaten streak

BUL secured a point at NEC through Jerome Kiirya strike before halftime at Lugogo on Saturday to not only deny Badru Kaddu a winning start but also keep their unbeaten run.

Abbey Kikomeko’s men are now unbeaten in 25 premier league matches since a 2-0 defeat to UPDF in December last year.

However, this was a fourth draw in six matches this season as they stayed a point behind joint leaders KCCA and Police.

Vipers stop KCCA

KCCA were unbeaten until Friday when they visited champions Vipers and lost 1-0 to old boy Allan Okello first half goal.

It was a statement defeat for the Kasasiro who are chasing a trophy for the first time in six seasons and one of intent for Vipers who are now on 6 points from two games, just five points behind KCCA despite playing four matches less.

How KCCA react when they host URA after the break will be important in their title quest.

Buhimba, Mbarara City, Calvary obliterated

25 goals were scored on match day six but of those, 14 were conceded by the trio of Buhimba (5-2 vs. Lugazi), Mbarara City (4-1 vs Express) and Calvary (4-2 vs. Entebbe UPPC).

Buhimba are now on a three-match losing streak after winning as many at the start of the season while Mbarara City and Calvary are the two sides yet to win a game this season.

URA turning into draw specialists

Five draws in six premier league matches is a stat not many URA faithful want to read.

The tax collectors were held to another frustrating draw at Luzira when they fired blanks against hosts Maroons.

Alex Isabirye’s men have scored just five goals in six matches and lie 7th on the table with 8 points out of a possible 16.

Villa and the substitutes impact

No team has scored more goals; four from substitutes this season so far than SC Villa.

Last week, Frank Ssebuufu joined the list when he headed home Najib Yiga cross to win it for the Jogoos against resilient Kitara at Fufa stadium, Kadiba.

He joined Andrew Otim (scorer in the 1-1 draw with Entebbe UPPC), as well as Charles Lwanga and Geoffrey Gaganga who netted in the 2-1 win over Police off the bench.

Police dark horses?

It maybe too early but Police could be the season’s dark horses. The Cops salvaged three points in the last minutes of the UPDF encounter when the hosts appeared to have snatched a point.

The 2005 champions moved joint top with KCCA on 11 points and could potentially be in the mix for the title.
