Fresh from winning the 2025 Entebbe Open, David Kamulindwa’s rich vein of form continued in Masindi at the 27th Kinyara Golf Open.

The aggressive-cum-offensive player shredded out stiff competition to out-play 20 other professionals in the Shs 10,000,000 kitty tourney played in two rounds on the 9-hole course.

Kamulindwa opened with a 1-over-72 gross mark during round one and bettered with 5-under-66 for the subsequent round to amass a total of 138 (4-under).

“I am humbled by the performance. The course was in good condition. It keeps improving every year. I am so happy for myself. Everything was going the way I wanted,” Kamulindwa, who won his first open in Masindi, said.

“This is my third win this year, and it shows me that what I am doing is right. I am grateful for my coaches. I thank Kinyara Sugar Limited because this is one assured tournament we have every year,” Kamulindwa, who looks forward to championships in Jinja and Namulonge, added.

Kamulindwa added to the Watoto and Entebbe open earlier victories this year, which comes to a grand climax soon.

Last year’s champion, Grace Kasango, finished second overall (143) whilst Marvin Kibirige was third (144).

Others were Abraham Ainamani (145), Canary Kabise (148), Tom Jingo (149), Herman Deco Mutebi (149), Ronald Otile (150), Herman Mutaawe (150), James Koto (152), Richard Baguma (152), Saidi Mawa (153), among others.

Only the top ten positions were considered to take a share of the Shs 10,000,000 prize money.

Joseph Cwinya-ai

Meanwhile, in the amateurs (gross) category, Uganda national team captain Joseph Cwinya-ai and Meron Kyomugisha won in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

Cwinya-ai carded 214 (+1) in 54 holes ahead of Abdullah Kakooza (222) and Juma Abiti (224).

The duo of Lawrence Walakira and Christopher Basaliza jointly shared fourth spot with 227 gross mark apiece.

The top cluster will share Shs 4,000,000 in cash prizes.

Meron Kyomugisha

For the ladies, long-hitting Kyomugisha claimed the top honours with 234 (+21), beating Martha Babirye (241).

2024 lady champion Lillian Koowe came third with 242, whilst Joyce Kisembo (256) and Julia Joan Nampewo (262) completed the top five positions.

The top performers will share a kitty of Shs 3,000,000.

The tournament officially comes to a grand climax with action in the seniors and subsidiary golfers in action on Saturday, 15th November 2025.

There will be a grand party at the famous 19th hole with a colourful prize giving ceremony, dinner and entertainment thereafter.
