Wednesday, 19th November 2025 – Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium

  • 9:00 PM: Women’s 800m final (Halima Nakaayi)
  • 9:15 PM: Men’s 1500m final (Tom Dradriga)
  • 9:30 PM: Women’s 400m final (Shida Leni)
  • 9:42 PM: Men’s 400m final (Haron Adoli)
  • 9:55 PM: Women’s 5000m final (Risper Cherop & Charity Cherop)

Uganda Athletics team is a very busy party in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s city of Riyadh for the 6th Islamic Games.

A gold medal in the women’s 10,000m race won by Rebecca Chelangat and a fourth place finish by Annet Chemengich Chelangat was supplemented by two medals from Samuel Simba Cherop and Abel Chebet for the men’s 10,000m final.

The three medals from athletics alone add to the six earlier collected to make it nine for team Uganda ahead of the climaxing week.

On the night of Wednesday, 19th November 2025, the medal count for Uganda could spill over pending the different finals in the different races.

Halima Nakaayi

At 9:00 PM, Halima Nakaayi will line up in the women’s 800m women final. Nakaayi has already expressed readiness for this race.

“I have prepared well and the body is set for the final” she spoke on the eve of the competition.

Tom Dradriga will follow suit in the men’s 1500m final at 9:15 PM.

This will be followed by the women’s 400m final where Uganda is represented by Shida Leni and the men’s 400m at 9:42 PM with Haron Adolii in action.

The final action for team Uganda on the night will be the 5000m final where Uganda has two ambassadors; the Cherop entity of Charity and Risper.

Hungary based swimmer Anna Gloria Muzito has two gold medals (50m and 100 freestyle races); Rabecca Chelangat (gold in 10,000m women’s race) and Muzito with a silver in 200m freestyle and Samuel Simba Cherop (10,000m men’s race)

The bronze has come from Boxing (Alfred Ojok), Abel Chebet (10,000m), Table Tennis doubles women team (Parvin Judith Nangonzi and Jemimah Nakawala) as well as swimmer Jesse Ssuubi Ssengonzi (OLY) in the 200m butterfly race.

Meanwhile, Wrestling for team Uganda starts with Veronica Ayo in action.

Para Powerlifter Denis Mbaziira will compete on Friday, 21st November 2025.

Uganda has competed in all the Islamic Solidarity Games since Mecca (2005).
