The Play-Off Tournament will feature two finals, in which the winners of the semi-finals contested by the unseeded teams will face the two seeded teams, with the nations that prevail in the finals securing their spots at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Africa’s representatives at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Playoff Tournament, DR Congo, have learnt their path following a draw in Zurich on Thursday.
Based on their ranking, Sebastien Desabre’s Leopards are one of the two seeded teams alongside Bolivia.
The Play-Off Tournament will feature two finals, in which the winners of the semifinals contested by the unseeded teams will face the two seeded teams, with the nations that prevail in the finals securing their spots at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
In that regard, DR Congo will face the winner of semifinal one that features New Caledonia and Jamaica, as the two, along with Bolivia and Suriname, are the unseeded teams.
The other semifinal will feature Bolivia and Suriname, with the winner facing Iraq in path two.
The draw was presented by Melanie Winiger and conducted by Chief Tournament Officer (USA) Manolo Zubiria, with Christian Karembeu, Marco Materazzi and Martin Dahlin serving as assistants, and was followed by the European Play-Off Draw.
The matches will be played in Mexico in March 2026.
