The last time the Uganda Cup was held in January 2024, the Rams miraculously made it to the final but were outclassed by Heathens.

A rematch is on the cards in this year’s Uganda Cup quarterfinal when the Rams visit the Heathens at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Sunday.

The Rams are once again punching above their weight, but have made a proper account of themselves. An honourable loss to Pirates and a dominant display against Mongers sent the Rams to a second consecutive Uganda Cup knockout stage but the stakes are higher now.

The Heathens fell short in the semifinal of the National Rugby Premiership Playoffs and barely showed up in the National 7s.

In the Uganda Cup, they have made their intentions known by putting Impis in their place and reminding the Victoria Sharks who the Kyadondo boss is.

The return of Hisham Kabogoza and Hosanna Opilleni has reignited a Rams side that has been held together by Ryan Juuko and Brian Wandera. The experience of Emmanuel Kibirige and Solomon Aryampa shall only quell the onslaught from Heathens for so long.

The winner of this fixture faces the winner between Hippos and Buffaloes, who shall play at the same time on Sunday in Jinja.
