Overview:
The three-day Equity NARO championship is exclusively sponsored by Equity Bank Uganda, in partnership with the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO). The tournament theme is “17 Years of Transforming Lives in Uganda”, which will be in celebration of the 17 years of Equity Bank’s success, impact, and partnerships in Uganda’s financial sector.
Professional golfers David Kamulindwa and Grace Kasango took a joint lead after the opening round of the 5th Equity Naro Open at the Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club in Namulonge on Thursday, 27th November 2025.
Kamulindwa and Kasango played an identical 3-under-68 gross mark to share the joint lead after round one.

“To take the lead after round one is important in any championship. There is stiff competition because we share the top spot after 18 holes, and are just one better than the third-placed one. The next 18 holes will remain key to the championship decider,” Kamulindwa, who recently won in Masindi at the Kinyara Open, stated.
These two golfers are one stroke behind Silver Opio. The duo of Hussein Bagalana and Marvin Kibirige share the joint fourth place with 1-under-70.

Tom Jjingo (71), Ronald Otile (72), Rodel Gaita (73), Herman Mutawe (74) and Abbey Bagalana (75) completed the top ten after the opening 18 holes.
The professionals are playing for a total kitty of Ugx 10,000,000.
