Usama Arafa and Frank Ssebuufu each struck as Vipers SC and SC Villa played to a dramatic 1-1 draw in a rescheduled Uganda Premier League encounter at St. Mary’s Kitende on Saturday.

The match, which carried historical rivalry and form into the mix, drew a mammoth crowd to Kitende. Both sides started aggressively, immediately seeking an early opener.

An early chance fell to Hassan Mubiru in the fourth minute, but he chose to pass instead of shoot, allowing the ball to be quickly intercepted.

Just three minutes later, SC Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago was forced into a fine save to deny Karim Watambala from close range.

Seven minutes into the second half, Yunus Sentamu was presented with a clear chance from a fine delivery into the area, but his resulting header was planted over the bar.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 67th minute when Ssebuufu scored with a fine header, finishing a delivery from Kato Ssemayange.

However, SC Villa’s lead was short-lived. Five minutes later, Usama levelled the matters, tapping in from close range after receiving a brilliant pass from Allan Okello.

With the point earned away from home, SC Villa lie second on the log with 17 points. Vipers, meanwhile, Vipers sit fourth with 13 points, notably holding three games in hand.
