President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was represented by the Deputy Speaker for the Parliament of Uganda Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa at the opening ceremony.
“Our region only grows when we lift each other up. The East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games are not about who scores the most goals or tops the medal table, they are a celebration of a community of brothers and sisters. Even teams that don’t score should be celebrated, because participation itself strengthens unity.” Rt. Hon Tayebwa delivered the president’s message.
The President reminded the people that this event must reflect more than sport, symbolizing the shared commitment to the prosperity and integration of the East African Community.
Off the field, President Museveni urged the people to reflect on how to strengthen regional integration by eradicating non-tariff barriers and building strategic infrastructure that connects the economies.
They will climax on 17th December 2025 with a colorful closing ceremony.
