James Bogere at El Cambio Academy

Overview:

Aarhus Gymnastikforening has a rich history having now existed for 145 years since the inception year of 1880 with 5 national titles, 9 Danish Cup and 2 Atlantic trophies to boast of. Christened as the “Whites”, they are based in the city of Aarhus, hosting their home matches at the 12,000 seater Vejlby stadium.

Two Ugandan teenagers, James Bogere and Hamuza Ssengooba, have signed professional contracts with Danish Superliga side Aarhus Gymnastikforening.

This duo is from the Masaka-based El Cambio Soccer Academy and has been featuring in the third-tier Buganda Regional League with Masaka Sunshine Football Club.

The two players were part of the Uganda Cubs (national U17) team squad that played at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, reaching the round of 16 stage.

Bogere is a proven goal poacher who has wooed many agents and scouts for his ability to take on the opposition as he looks for the back of the net.

His positional sense is spot on with an odd eye to shoot, head the ball and shield as he takes on the defenders with pace.

Bogere is currently with the Uganda Cranes team in Morocco for a training camp in preparation for the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 where Uganda is pooled alongside Tunisia, Nigeria and neighbours Tanzania.

Ssengooba, on the other hand, is a hard-working ball-playing defender, a leader on and off the field of play with awesome game-reading antics, timely ball interceptions and tackles, as well as strong abilities to head the ball.

“We are proud of our boys and can’t wait to follow them in their careers,” El Cambio Academy posted on their official social media pages.
