Overview:
Macknon Akampurira is nick-named “Owakarejukamwe”, loosely translated as 'Only man with one beard'. He is best known for the smooth flowing commentary, which is lively, engaging, spot-on and well researched.
Media personality Macknon “Owakarejukamwe” Akampurira is a popular figure across the divide in Ntungamo district, spreading in many other parts of Western Uganda.
Over the years, the 26-year-old has established himself among the fluent sports commentators in the Runyankole- Rukiiga dialects.
Blessed with an eloquent deep voice, Akampurira is often misjudged for his diminutive stature.
He is best known for the smooth flowing commentary which is lively, engaging, spot-on and well researched.
This has kept many of his listeners glued, luring him as many converts as possible.


He has passionately served several radio stations in Ntungamo District as Arms FM, Bethel FM, Mpororo FM and lately Thunder FM.
At his latest duty station, Thunder FM, Akampurira worked for two years and seven months before tendering in the shocking resignation that has left many of his ardent followers pondering the next step forward.
“I have been privileged to serve the sports people in Ntungamo and Western Uganda with one heart. I will also continue to do so with passion” Akampurira, who is christened as Owakarejukamwe (Only man with one beard) remarks.
He is famed for providing coverage to many different local games in Ntungamo District, organizing games concerts with different sports presenters.
He has been spot on with his prophecy of predicting an upcoming goal with a common phase; Abaari omukiibanda mwimukye goal eriimu neija; loosely translated “Those watching in make-shift video halls, keep steady, the goal is coming”.
Akampurira picked a bold leaf from role model, Moses Gumisiriza, now vice president of UB40 Uganda.

He also commentates at locally organized sports tournaments for politicians and other business personalities.
Opportunities have also followed the young man with offers of watching every Uganda Cranes matches at Namboole stadium provided by a filthy rich Rwahi gentleman, Witare Katongole.
He is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for all Ntungamo Arsenal Associations fans, a body that has so far saved Ug.Shs 28,000,000 in savings.

Akampurira has been also the PRO for Ntungamo district during the prestigious Ankole football championship.
He has had open invites to commentate international big games in bars as New Bamp Hotel Ntungamo, Echelon Lounge Ntungamo, Modern Institute watching Hall, Embassy Tours Ntungamo and Energy Lounge Ntungamo, Buhooma New Gardens Mapeera (Bwindi, Kanungu district), Sheema (Mutatiitina Tournament) and recently the Manchester derby at Banana Gardens in Kabale.


It remains work in progress for Akampurira as many of his fans in Western Uganda and across the country tip him to be greatest sports commentator of all time in the entire country.
