Kenneth Waiswa and his team, the Blasters, are top of the table of the Batball Maxx Challenge Cup at the halfway stage of the tournament at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe.
Blasters are tied on the same number of points with Gladiators but ahead on Net Run Rate.
All the teams have played the same number of games, but the leaders are staying to pull away from the rest.
The Royals and Warriors are stuck at the bottom with three losses each, with only one win to their names. Titans and Strikers have picked up two wins and lost twice but they stay in touch with the top two teams.
Gladiators led the way for the first two days, and they are the highest scoring team in the tournament but once the Blasters managed to defend a modest total against them, their unbeaten run ended. The young Gerald Olipa leads the Gladiators, who are a great all-round unit with a good balance of bowlers and batters. Paul Mulongo has been their go-to man for runs with some match-winning knocks. Mulongo has so far scored 93 runs at an average of 31 runs in the four games.
