- Kitara 2-0 Maroons
Kitara secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Maroons in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Royals Park in Butema on Friday.
Patrick Kaddu scored a brace on the day as the Royals registered a sweet victory in front of the home crowd.
Kaddu smartly nodded home in the opening effort after being set up by Edward Tala from the right flank.
Raymond Walugembe thought he had levelled matters 16 minutes later but his effort was ruled to be offside.
Kaddu doubled Kitara’s lead with a delightful finish thanks to Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye’s calm delivery in the 34th minute.
Jimmy Kalema nearly got his name on the score sheet but his effort went narrowly wide in the 57th minute.
Maroons were the better side in the second half but were not sharp enough in the final third to harm the hosts.
The victory takes Kitara to third place on the log with 19 points while Maroons lie eighth with 12 points.
