KCCA secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against NEC in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Friday.

The game ended with either side a man less after Emmanuel Anyama and Titus Ssematimba were given matching orders.

Saidi Mayanja gave KCCA an early lead after placing the ball into the back of the net in the fourth minute.

NEC goalkeeper Samson Kirya made a big save to keep the visitors in the game as the Kasasiro Boys kept knocking on the door.

However, as the second half approached, tables turned as NEC pressed KCCA on the back foot but the home side soaked in the pressure.

Six minutes into the second period of the game, Ssematimba levelled matters for the visitors to give them a reason to cheer.

Anyama had a big chance to restore KCCA’s lead but was denied by Kirya with yet another big save in the 66th minute.

Three minutes later, NEC were reduced to 10 men after Ssematimba was shown a red card after a reckless tackle on Lazaro Bwambale.

KCCA were reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute after Anyama was given a straight red card. The forward fouled Ibrahim Ibrahim Musa before being sent off.

With minutes to play, Mayanja restored the hosts’ lead after being set up by Alex Yiga.

The victory sends KCCA to the log summit with 23 points while NEC lie 10th with 11 points after playing 10 games.
