KCCA open a five-point gap on top of the Uganda Premier League log.
KCCA registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Buhimba United in the UPL encounter at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Tuesday.
The game started on a slow pace as both sides struggled to find rhythm into the game.
Roving full-back Lazaro Muhindo pulled the trigger from distance but his ferocious effort went inches above the frame in the 14th minute.
Rogers Mugisha broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with a close range effort. The forward was quick to attack the rebound after goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba struggled to deal with Herbert Achayi’s powerful effort.
Coming from the halftime break, Buhimba United improved forcing the hosts on the back foot.
In the 57th minute, Anyway Ntege’s bouncing header forced KCCA goalkeeper Anthony Emojong in a big save the visitors kept knocking on the door.
The introduction of Alex Yiga and Umar Lutalo in the 62nd minute brought life to KCCA’s midfield that had run out of ideas.
In the 70th minute, Buhimba United’s backline combined to block Saidi Mayanja’s effort that was destined for the back of the net.
Yiga’s travelling and powerful effort was on target but goalkeeper Kiyimba palmed it out for a corner kick in the 83rd minute.
The victory keeps KCCA on top of the log with 26 points after 11 games while Buhimba United lie 14th on the log with 10 points in 11 games.
