Overview:

Despite the persistent rains and cold weather in Morocco, the handful of Ugandan fans inside the Stade Olympique De Rabat enjoyed the Tunisia vs Uganda match.

It is endlessly raining heavily in Rabat city and across other cities in Morocco.

This weather has not deterred the smooth progress of the 35th TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) where Africa and the rest of the world.

The coldness has touched many nerves, especially for many of us from the tropics, Uganda inclusive.

On the day, Uganda Cranes opened their business during the 7th appearance at AFCON against North Africans Tunisia, it rained for more than eight hours.

Right from the time the players left the team hotel through to the limbering session at the Stade Olympique De Rabat and the match proper, it poured endlessly.

Tunisia easily won the contest 3-1 in a one-sided duel where FC Copenhagen forward Mohamed Elyes Achouri struck a brace.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ellyes Joris Skhiri added the other as Uganda Cranes’ substitute Denis Omedi of APR Football Club in Rwanda got Uganda Cranes’ consolation on the miserable night for Uganda.

Despite the persistent rains and cold weather, the handful of Ugandan fans inside the stadium enjoyed the match.

“We sang and cheered on our boys in every-way. It was a special moment regardless of the cold weather” Joshua Atugonza, one of the fans in the stands told Kawowo Sports.

UK based couple Ronald Edema and Karen Roberts Edema watched the Tunisia versus Uganda match from the open wing of the stadium.

“We loved the game but the rain definitely did not help. I think overall we did well. For the first 15 minutes, we looked nervous but after that we settled down. The second half performance was much better and we managed to score a goal. With no roof cover, we got soaked from head to toe. Great experience” Edema spoke to Kawowo Sports after the game.

By the end of the match, the mood was dampened for Uganda with many shivering from the extreme cold effects as the Tunisians celebrated.

We are keen for the next match on Saturday, 27th December 2025 against neighbors Tanzania at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat city.

Between now and kick off, the Uganda Cranes players will have definitely recovered from the effects of the cold.

Perhaps, we are all getting acclimatized to the cold conditions.
