CAF "A" certified Simon Peter Mugerwa has with a rich profile, having also previously handled Police, Sports Club Villa, Soltilo Bright Stars, Proline and Fire Masters.

Simon Peter Mugerwa has replaced the duo of Francis Mugerwa and Steven Bogere as head coach of Lugazi Football Club for a year-long tenure.

The CAF “A” licensed tactician has been unemployed since he was shown the exit door at Mbarara City Football Club last month.

He will be joined by veteran Robert Ssekweyama as the immediate assistant coach.

Lugazi Football Club officially made the appointment announcement on Christmas Day (25th December 2025).

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Peter Mugerwa as the head coach of our senior men’s team with immediate effect. Welcome to the LEADERS, Simon Peter Mugerwa, and Robert Ssekweyama,” the club statement read.

Mugerwa comes with a rich profile, having also previously handled Police, Sports Club Villa, Soltilo Bright Stars, Proline and Fire Masters.

He is also a specialist in the Buganda Masaza Cup and has been head coach at Buddu, Bulemeezi, Ssingo, Busiro and lately Kyaggwe.

Mugerwa commenced in coaching journey in school football. He has since handled Real College Busunju, Kakungulu Memorial School, Masaka Secondary School and lately Buddo Secondary School.

Lugazi has had a slow start to the season, winning twice, drawing thrice and losing four times in 9 outings.

They are 13th on the 16-team log with 9 points.
