The first stage of the 2026 Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Qualifying School tees off on Saturday, 17th January for a grueling 36 holes action at Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad city, India.

A total field of 141 golfers will compete including Uganda’s professional Marvin Kibirige.

“This is a dream come true to be part of the Professional Golf Tour of India Qualifying School. This tournament gives hope to local players. It shows that with hard work and the right support, a Ugandan golfer can compete anywhere.” Kibirige who was bankrolled by Equity Bank with $2000 (Ug.Shs 7,200,000) kitty remarked.

Kibirige will tee-off at 8:03 AM alongside Vishal Singh, Kumar M. and Abhishek Gupta, an amateur.

The other foreign entries are Tehjas Shreepada Renu (USA), Sydney Joseph Wemba (Zambia) and Nim Dorji Tamang (Bhutan).

A lion’s share of the players are Indians, including some selected amateurs.

After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the leading 80 players and ties, who will play 2 further rounds.

At the conclusion of 72 holes, the leading players (+ ties) will be ranked in their respective categories for 2026 as A (full card), B, C and D.

The number of players to qualify under category A (full card) will be announced before the start of the final qualifying school.
