Senegal legend El Hadji Diouf backs the Lions of Teranga in the Afcon 2025 final against hosts Morocco on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium on Sunday.

Morocco head into the game as favourites backed by their passionate crowd that has pushed them even in the hardest of moments especially after the group stage matches.

Diouf who is with the national team spoke to the media as the team held their last training session in Rabat.

“Everyone wants to beat us. Whether it is a friendly, Afcon or world cup,” said Diouf. “Because we are now top and have the best players. I have told the boys to continue playing and enjoy the game,” he said.

When asked of the form in which the boys are, the ex-Lens and Liverpool attacker said the boys are happy to be playing in the final and wants them to enjoy it.

“We are so happy to be in the final because when you play in the final, you don’t know when that chance comes again so I have told the boy to enjoy it and try to win.”

On whether the crowd won’t affect the Senegal team on the day, Diouf said that they have played in front of harsh crowds.

“I am not scared of the crowd. If we survived in Kinsasha, we can win anywhere. We saw how it was tough but we won there.”

Both Senegal and Morocco have only won the title once and history beckons whoever wins come Sunday.
