Villarreal midfielder Pape Alassane Gueye scored in the extra time for the all-important game in a contest where Senegal threatened to abandon the game after a penalty was rewarded against them.

It took the bold efforts of star player Sadio Mane who convinced his teammates to return to the field of play. Mane was later named player of the tournament (MVP).
