National Basketball League (NBL) side JT Lady Jaguars confirmed the signing of centre Bridget Aber from UCU Lady Canons.

In the NBL, transfers are often about statistics, minutes and accolades, but for Bridget Aber, her recent move to the Lady Jaguars was driven by something more touching.

Aber looked at searching for a holistic growth but also sought a sense of homecoming, more so knowing that the Lady Jaguars have several old girls.

Reflecting on the past few weeks, Aber describes the period leading up to her decision as some of the most ‘exciting and reflective’ of her basketball journey.

“The primary mandate I had for myself in deciding where to play next was always going to be what would allow me grow as a player,” Aber was quoted by the club’s website.

“That has guided me throughout my career and it continues to steer me in the right position. But I’m also at a point in my life where it’s equally important to find a place that helps me grow,” he added.

What excites Aber most about her new home is the ethos that extends beyond the scoreboard.

The 2026 National Basketball League will get underway on Friday, February 6 and the fraternity is buzzing.
