Six minutes later, Steven Munguchi tested goalkeeper Hassam Muyomba from distance but the effort flew over.
Maroons’ midfielder got cautioned for a deliberate handball on the quarter hour mark and Issa Bugembe shot over from the resultant freekick.
Nkuubi had a freekick well defended on 24 minutes in the visitors’ real first threat of the game.
It was Maroons again towards the half hour mark when left back Emmanuel Obua executed a dangerous cross that was well defended and Nkuubi had the rebound blocked.
Kyeyune shot narrowly wide towards the end of the opening half before Maroon’s roving right back had his shot fly over in the last chance of opening half.
