KCCA return to the winning rails on Tuesday, after overcoming UPDF FC at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. The Kasasiro Boys had not won in their last two games, losing 2-0 to Police and drawing goalless against Maroons FC.

The aforementioned results saw KCCA surrender their lead at the top of the table, with coach Brian Ssenyondo getting a lot of stick.

The fixture against UPDF FC could not have come at a better time than today, for a team that has struggled against the Kasasiro Boys in recent times.

Indeed, KCCA FC were ruthless on the day, registering a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Sammy Ssebadduka (brace), Joel Sserunjogi and substitute Alpha Ssali.

Coach Ssenyondo made three changes from the team that started against Maroons last week with Hassan Muhamood replacing suspended Filbert Obenchan at the heart of defence. Rogers Mugisha and Brian Jjara also started ahead of Ashraf Mugume and Saidi Mayanja, respectively.

A brilliant start saw KCCA take an early lead through Ssebaduka, who tapped Herbert Achayi’s cross home in the 11th minute.

At the half-hour mark, midfielder Sserunjogi doubled the lead from the spot when UPDF defender Edward Saturo brought down Shafik Nana Kwikiriza in the box.

Kwikiriza, who started as a number ten (playing behind the striker), was lively on the day.

UPDF FC, on the other hand, didn’t have presence in the opponent’s box with coaches opting to bench striker Sam Ssekamatte, who has scored five of the twelve goals they have this season.

Ssebaduka got his second and KCCA’s third of the day in the 51st minute to stretch the lead for the home side.

Ssali, who replaced Ssebaduka in the 75th minute, put the icing on the cake, scoring in stoppage time, his first goal in KCCA colours.

Victory takes KCCA FC to second place on 29 points, one behind leaders Vipers, who play Police later on, while UPDF drop second from bottom on eleven points.
