Godfrey Kambale took the famous day one bragging rights during the first round of the 2026 Kabalaza Golf Open at Entebbe club on Thursday, 5th February 2026.

The Entebbe club member fired 3-under-69 to boss the field, a stroke over Michael Tumusiime and Joel Okoth (both tied on 1-under-70).

Kambale ready to putt

Kambale recorded four birdies on the par-5 hole 7, par 3 hole 12, par 4 hole 13 and par 5 hole 15.

He got 12 pars on holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 16 and 18 with two bogies on the par 5 hole 1 annd par 4 hole 17.

Meanwhile, Martha Babirye leads for the ladies having scored 7-over-78 during the first 18 holes played.

She is three strokes ahead of the second placed duo of Lillian Koowe and Joyce Kisembo.

In the professionals’ cluster, Silver Opio recorded 3-under-68 to boss the leaderboard after round one.

Phillip Kasozi (69), Rodell Tadeo Gaita (70), Herman Deco Mutebi (71) and Abbey Bagalana (71) closely follow.

Round two comes on Friday, 6th February 2026.

The professionals kitty is Ug.Shs 10,000,000. The gross players are playing for Ug.Shs 10,000,000 (Ug.Shs 7,000,000 for the men and Ug.Shs 3,000,000 for the ladies).

The Kabalaza open championship is organized by Entebbe Club with the support of different partners as Uganda Golf Union, Aquafina, Upscale, Street Club, MTN Uganda, Johnnie Walker, NuMax Cinemas, Emraa, Petro and 7 Hotels, among others.
