Pius “TZ” Obuya is officially back to the Uganda Premier League, at NEC Football Club.
This follows a brief training spell with the club since he returned from Europe.
Since 2021, Obuya has been based in Serbia, first at Kabel Sports Club (19 appearances) before he joined Radnicki Sremska Mitrovica until 2025 with 38 appearances, scoring 4 goals.

Upon joining NEC Football Club on a two-year deal (with a special release clause), Obuya sighed with excitement.
“It’s a new chapter, let’s get rolling” the gifted left footer remarked.
Obuya, 27, ranks among the youngest players to have featured in the Uganda Premier League.
He made his debut in the Uganda Premier League aged 16 years for Maroons against Express at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium on 29th August 2015 in a duel that the Red Eagles won 3-2.

In 2014, Obua featured for the Uganda national U-17 team (Cubs), playing in the contests against Syechelles, Rwanda and Zambia under Mathias Lule as head coach, with Peter Onen as assistant.
He graduated to the Uganda national U-20 (The Hippos) in 2017. He is yet to make a mark on the senior national team (Uganda Cranes), a dream he harbours with positive spirits.

“I will continue working hard every day with a dream to cement a place on the senior national team” he confessed.
Obuya is a left footed intelligent midfielder with a sublime first touch on the ball, a quick thinker, an elegant dribbler, a swift crosser and passer who has of late improved the shooting skills.
He is expected to make his debut at the club in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, away to Mabira Town Council football club in Kasese during a round of 64 contest.
