Chukwuma Chukwurah was on target as the Venoms bagged the bragging rights away from home.
Vipers head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert hardly gave room for error as he read a strong starting eleven against Lira-based side. This was a testament that the Belgian badly wanted the game.
Vipers endured tough conditions playing on largely a dusty ground as well as under very high temperatures in Lira.
The visitors suffered a big blow in the 19th minute after Hillary Mukundane was forced off the playing field due to an injury and was replaced by Rogers Torach.
With two minutes to end the first stanza, Chukwuma broke the deadlock with a banger. He went past markers before curling the ball in the bottom corner.
It was largely a close duel in the second stanza but the Venoms held on to conclude the game in the driving seat.
