UCU Lady Canons started the 2026 National Basketball League campaign with a dominant victory.
The Lady Canons secured a well-deserved 73-29 victory against Angels in the 2026 NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday morning.
Matrina Anyango (13 points) and Sylvia Nantongo (10 points) led the Lady Canons’ scoring chart in double digits, while Angles had no player in the same column.
It was generally a poor shooting day for both sides as Angels dropped only four of the 29 attempts outside the arc while the Lady Canons converted five of the 28 shots outside the area.
Anyango dropped four unanswered points before the team extended the count to 13 before Angels found their first basket. Lady Canons concluded the first quarter with an 11-point lead (17-06).
In the second quarter, the desperate Angels improved their harvest to 11 points but went into the long break with a 21-point deficit.
Coming from the locker rooms, Angels were limited to only six points as the Lady Canons opened a dominant 33-point lead at the end of the stanza.
It was a one-way traffic in the final quarter as the Lady Canons ran away with a 44-point victory.
