- UMU Flames 64-79 UCU Canons
Uganda Christian University (UCU) Canons welcomed Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Flames to the National Basketball League with a beating.
UCU Canons secured a well-deserved 79-64 victory in the 2026 NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday evening.
It was a slow start to the game as both sides struggled to put points on the board in the first two minutes. Jimmy Otim got the action underway with a driving layup.
Joshua Diallo’s lay-up put the lid on the opening quarter as the Flames trailed by seven points (09-16).
In the second quarter, the game got even faster. Daniel Munganzi made a 3-point jump shot as the Canons took an 18-point lead (44-26) during the long break.
Coming from the locker room, the Canons dropped seven unanswered points before the Flames posted points on the board. Agot Agot capped the third quarter with a 3-point shot as the Flames trailed by 24 points.
The Canons lost control, thus making several shots and turning over the ball in very unavoidable ways. Despite the Flames’ late strong fight, Canons ran away with 15 points.
Jimmy Otim (21 points), Daniel Muganzi (13 points), and Ekirapa Zachariah (12 points) led the Canons’ scoring chart in double digits.
Agot Agot (16 points), Joshua Duallo (11 points), and Micheal Opwonyo (10 points led the Flames’ scoring chart in double digits.
