- Match Day 17: Entebbe UPPC 1-0 Mbarara City
Live wire Ambrose Kigozi scored his 9th goal of the season as Entebbe Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) beat visiting Mbarara City 1-0 at the lake side Fisheries Training Institute playground in Bugonga, Entebbe Municipality on Tuesday, 17th February 2026.
Recording the 10th victory of the season in 17 outings, Entebbe UPPC gallantly held onto the first half lead during the sunny contest, also watched by Vipers’ head coach Ivan Minnaert.
Mbarara City commenced the game defensively as the Printers were denied by goalkeeper Denis Emukule on different occasions.
The host team’s skipper of the day Julius Poloto, taking over the arm band for suspended defender Musitafa Mujjuzi had three deliveries thwarted as Ambrose Kigozi was stopped from close range.
Mohammad Kanyike and Clinton Kamugisha all had opportunities to score for the visitors during the opening stanza in vain.

Entebbe UPPC defender George Kiryowa slid timely to block a goal bound shot by Kamugisha in the 42nd minute.
Moments later, Ankole Lions’ holding midfielder Francis Odongo brushed wide an inviting corner kick.
Kigozi, all alone at the far post scored past goalkeeper Emukule in the 43rd minute following a well laid ball inside the goal area from the Printers day’s skipper Julius Poloto.
During the second stanza, Mbarara City made attempts to equalize through Wycliffe Ahumuza, Muhammed Kanyike and Kamugisha but Entebbe UPPC goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa, George Kiryowa, Jonathan Odongo, Ahmed Amayo and left back Issa Mubiru had other ideas altogether, to defend solidly.

Second half substitutes Hassan Ssenyonjo and Yusuf Bogere injected pace for the Printers who sought for a killer.
Poloto had two dangerously swung in crosses not utilized and looked on in disbelief when he hit the cross bar with 10 minutes left on the mark.
Kanyike missed by inches as Mbarara City pushed for the equalizer in the closing moments of the game.
Bogere was brought down on the edge of the goal area for a free kick deep in added time.
From the resultant free-kick, Issa Bugembe hit the defensive wall from 25 yards.
Entebbe UPPC makes it 34 points and climbs to third place on the 16 team log.
Zaid Byekwaso’s coached Mbarara City consequently suffered their 8th defeat of the season as they remain on 15 points from 17 points.
Match day 18:
After match day 17, the league takes a break for the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 matches.
On match day 18, Entebbe UPPC will visit Kitara at the Royal’s Park – Butema in Hoima city on 3rd March 2026.
A day later, Mbarara City shall play URA at Hamz stadium in the early kick off of the double header before Express plays Maroons.
