NEC overcame UPDF 2-0 during the round of 32 duel in the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup on Thursday, 26th February 2026 at the Military Barracks stadium in Bombo.
Joseph Dhata scored twice during the game as NEC progresses to the round of 16 stage.
Dhata’s first strike came in the 28th minute after the roving right back was set up by Richard Basangwa.
The second goal was a well converted penalty on the stroke of half time when Dhata got the courage to stand up and strike following a foul on himself.
Meanwhile, Maroons edged Kumi United 1-0 courtesy of Norman Odipio’s 56th long range strike.
NEC and Kumi United march to the round of 16.
They join holders Vipers, Express, Sports Club Villa, Kitara, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Red Devo, Onduparaka, Happy Boys Kagaba and Iganga United.
The Uganda Cup competition has been played since 1971.
The Stanbic Uganda Cup winner earns a ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
