Despite being hit by devastating news of the passing of her mother this morning, Mercy Nyachama had a good round of golf on the opening day of the 2026 Entebbe Ladies Open.
Nyachama returned a 4-over-75 to share the Round One lead with defending champion Peace Kabasweka.
After carding four bogeys on the front nine, the Nyoro Country Club golfer played even on the back nine with a birdie on hole 12 and a bogey on one of the most challenging holes of the course, 17.

Kabasweka, on the other hand, had three bogeys on the front nine and birdied the par-3 hole 16. The Tooro Club member registered bogeys on holes 15 and 17.

Meanwhile, Lillian Koowe, Martha Babirye and Neema Olomi are tied for third, one stroke behind the leading pair.
Round Two will be played on Friday, with the bronze category also taking the course.
