Following a protracted debate on when the SC Villa Presidential Elections schedule, the club has set March 22 as the due date.
The elections were meant to be held in November last year but were extended amidst disagreements from a section of fans who cited breach of constitution as the current leadership led by Al Hajji Omar Mandela stayed on.
At the ‘Annual General Meeting’ of the club’s registered members under their Villa Members Trust (VMT) held at the club’s ‘home’ at former East High School, Kulambiro, consensus was reached by the members in attendance.
“The club elections will be held this month (March) on 22nd,” Gerald Ssendaula, chairman Board of Trustees told the congregation. “And the road map starts today but, in a few days, a vetting committee will be announced to handle the matter,” he added.
At the same meeting, the members unanimously agreed that for anyone interested in vying for the club presidency, a non-refundable fee of 100m Ugx will be a requirement.
Mandela who returned to the club in 2021 as president confirmed he is available and going nowhere to the applause of hundreds of fans who he tasked to be patient as the rebuilding process continues.
“I never wanted to come back but a few people convinced me, the club was in debt of 550M brought by those making noise in the media,” he lamented.
“Uganda’s problem is everyone wants already done things; there’s too much noise but I am here.
“I beg you (fans) to be patient with the process, to compete on the continent, you need at least 5 years to build a good team, we’re trying to do that, for now let’s work together & grow the club. I also want to confirm I am around; I am not going anywhere like it’s been said.”

Expected to stand against him is Farouk Meyiwa but it remains to be seen whether he will fulfil the conditions after he failed last election when the nomination fee was just 19.5million.
