Ceylon Lions have finished second in the last two seasons, but their quest to win the title this season suffered a huge dent after losing to Tornado Bee on the opening day of the season.

Former Cricket Cranes batter Roger Mukasa (57) notched a half-century to set up a decent total for Tornado Bee, who had enough to defend their total.

Charles Mushemeza (71) scored a half-century in vain, with the rest of the team not making any meaningful contributions as they ran out of resources with a huge 63 runs still required for the win.

The massive win for the former champions, Tornado Bee, supports their bid to stay up but puts Ceylon Lions’ chances of winning the league in trouble since it’s a single-round league.

In Jinja, GM Sugar held on to defeat JACC by two wickets in a nail-biter at the GM Sugar Ground.

Cricket Cranes All-Rounder Kenneth Waiswa put in a fine all-round performance, picking up five wickets and also scoring a half-century (65) but he couldn’t inspire his team to what would have been a morale-boosting win.

Newly promoted GM Sugar was cruising in the chase but a late loss of wickets put them in a spot of bother. Henry Ssenyondo’s resistance of 15 off 42 balls was the difference in the end as GM Sugar held on to win by 2 wickets.

In the Silver Division, Cricket Cranes Captain Riazat Ali Shah scored the second century of the season with a swashbuckling 159 off 97 balls that included 15 boundaries and seven maximums. Ismaili Community with a big win against a close rival, Avengers, in their quest to gain promotion to the Gold Division.

In the Bronze Division, U-19 youngster Devansh Patel scored the third century of the season with an unbeaten 127 off 96 balls to inspire the new side to a massive 242-run win against a helpless ACC. The young ACC side had no reply to their more experienced counterparts in a short game cut short by rain.
