URA finally secured a victory to end the nine-game winless streak that saw the Tax Collectors suffer five losses and make four draws.

URA secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Mbarara City in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo on Wednesday evening.

The playing ground was greatly disturbed by a heavy downpour forcing the game to pause at some point simply because the turf was unplayable.

In the 20th minute, Derrick Kakoza had a chance to put the hosts in the lead but the ball was easily collected by Mbarara City’s goalkeeper Derrick Emukule.

Six minutes later, Hudu Mulikyi nearly put the ball in his net but goalkeeper Crispus Kusiima was alert to avert danger.

Ronald Otti broke the deadlock in the 35th minute with a brilliant finish capitalising on Dissan Galiwango’s sweet delivery in the area.

In the 42nd minute, Mbarara City goalkeeper Emukule fouled Fred Amaku in the area and the hosts were awarded a penalty.

Moses Waiswa stepped up to the occasion and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net setting the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Ten minutes into the second half, both sides were sent back to their dressing rooms because the heavy downpour had left the turf water logged.

After a short break of 10 minutes, the two sides returned to complete the game infront of a small crowd.

In the 85th minute, Mbarara City came close to pulling back one by Otti cleared his lines to keep the hosts in a a comfortable lead.

The victory takes URA to the 12th position with 18 points while Mbarara City lie 14th on the log with 15 points from 18 league games.
