The anticipation for one of the most awaited fixtures in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) has just reached a fever pitch.
In an official communication released by the UPL Secretariat, the Matchday 21 clash between Kitara FC and Buhimba United Saints FC has been cleared for a major venue upgrade.
Originally slated for The Royals Park in Butema, the high-stakes Bunyoro-Kitara derby will now take place at the Hoima City Stadium.

The shift comes after the Secretariat approved a request from Kitara FC to move the game to a grander stage.
This change ensures that the regional rivalry receives the atmosphere it deserves, accommodating the massive fan base expected to descend upon Hoima.
The Secretariat confirmed that all hosting and operational requirements have been finalised by Kitara FC. As a “Bunyoro-Kitara derby,” the stakes go beyond just three points, it’s about regional pride and bragging rights.
This Friday’s clash is set to be a historic occasion, marking the first-ever league game hosted at the state-of-the-art Hoima City Stadium.
The facility, which was officially commissioned by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on December 24th, 2025, represents a new era for sports in the region.
Fans from across Bunyoro are expected to pack the stands, eager to witness both the intensity of the derby and the amenities of the modern venue.
Adding to the drama is a compelling narrative of “the one who got away.” In the reverse fixture at Royals Park, Buhimba United Saints secured a 1-0 victory thanks to a decisive header from Edson Agondeze.
However, in a classic derby twist, Agondeze completed a high-profile move to Kitara FC last month. He now finds himself lining up against his former teammates, looking to settle the score for his new side.
