Deliverance Church won the 2026 Rotary and Community Football Gala held at the magnificent St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The victors beat National Water & Sewage Corporation (NWSC) 2-0 in the final to win the trophy and gold medals.
A total of twenty four (24) teams took part in the day-long gala. These included among others the champions Deliverance Church, National Water & Sewage Corporation (NWSC), Radio 4, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), Police, Bwebajja Rotary Club, Kitende Rotary Club, Bwerenga Rotary Club, Lukuli Nanganda Rotary Club.
Muhammed Ssegonga lauded the Rotary Club of Kitende for organizing such a tranquil championship that lured teams from across the divide.
The gala also brought together the football entities from different corners as well as fostering leadership pillars.
According to Joseph Ssekabojja, proceeds from this event will be channeled to help Kitende Church of Uganda Primary School, a Government aided institution along the Entebbe- Kampala Highway found at Kitende.
Essential items as desk and benches, books and other scholastic materials will be procured from the money collected.
Plans are underway to transform this gala into the annual Rotary Recreational league where a wide pool of talent can be spotted and nurtured with a key objective of helping humanity.
Outstanding teams were rewarded with trophies as well as medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze).
All the teams were given certificates of participation, in appreciation for showing up to be part of the noble cause.
The Rotary Club of Kitende were the hosts of this gala.
