The Civil Society Organisation for Peace and Security (OCPS)Â has expressed satisfaction with the conditions under which the trial of Senegalese supporters is being held in Morocco.
These supporters were arrested following incidents during the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at Prince Abdellah Moulay Stadium in Rabat.
After attending several hearings, the NGO stated that all legal guarantees for a fair trial are being met.

The organisation noted that the Moroccan judicial authorities have ensured full respect for legal procedures, including the presence of interpreters and the right to a proper legal defence.
The NGO’s representatives emphasised that the proceedings are being conducted in accordance with international human rights standards.
This statement aims to clarify the situation following various reports on social media and provides an independent perspective on the transparency of the Moroccan judicial system in handling this sensitive case.
Eighteen (18) Senegalese fans were sentenced following their violent behaviour in the final, in which Senegal beat Morocco 1-0.
The final was controversially suspended as the Senegal players left the pitch in protest against the late award of a penalty to the host nation.
Fans, in response, attempted to enter the field of play during the match on January 19, leading to the arrest of 18 people who were later charged with hooliganism and violence against security officials.
Prison sentences were handed out to them, ranging from three months to one year, along with fines of up to 5,000 dirhams ($545).
