Kampala University (KU) players celebrate

This Tuesday, 17th March 2026, Nkumba University hosts Kyambogo University in Nkumba and  YMCA shall face ISBAT in Buwambo on the same day.

Kampala University (KU) qualified for the quarter finals of the 2025/26 Pepsi University Football League (UFL) after a 2-0 win over Kampala International University (KIU) at FUFA Kadiba Stadium in Mengo.

A goal in each half from Samuel Ayebare and Gideon Nsubuga guided Kampala University to a memorable victory that cements their top spot in Group A with 13 points.

Ayebare scored the opening goal in the 37th minute before a last minute winning goal by Nsubuga.

Meanwhile, Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) also qualified for the quarter finals with a 2-1 victory on the road over University of Kisubi (UniK) in Kisubi.

Ronald Obedgiu scored under the first minute from kick off and a second in the 27th minute.

Peter Bukenya pulled back a goal for UniK in the 54th minute.

UMU also qualified to the quarter finals with 11 points, joining KU from group A.

The other qualified teams already to the quarter final include Muteesa 1 Royal University, Bugema University and St Lawrence University.

Remaining Group stage matches:

This Tuesday, 17th March 2026, Nkumba University hosts Kyambogo University in Nkumba and  YMCA shall face ISBAT in Buwambo on the same day in Group C.

On Wednesday, UCU will play host to IUIU in Mukono during Group E.

The two last games at the group stage level will have Kumi University entertaining King Ceasor in Kumi as Ndejje University will face Makerere University in Ndejje in group E.

This league has over the years given a viable platform to university students express themselves on the football field, as they develop their talents.

Several players, coaches, administrators, referees and journalists have been nurtured through this league.
